Inspection process

At Studio Negativ, we care for each piece’s unique history. Before listing any product in our shop, we thoroughly inspect it to assess its optical and mechanical performance, as well as its cosmetic condition. Our goal is complete transparency so that you know exactly what you’re purchasing.

As part of our inspection process, we clean all products thoroughly and verify the full functionality of every item in the shop. Any defects or malfunctions are professionally repaired before the item is offered for sale.

Cameras undergo examinations for shutter accuracy, light seal integrity, viewfinder calibration, and focusing precision, among other things. Digital cameras undergo additional checks, such as evaluating LCD screen performance, checking sensor cleanliness check and replacing the battery if necessary.

We examine lenses for smooth focusing and aperture operation, optical clarity, and potential defects, such as scratches, fungus, haze, or separation. We also test lenses on professional collimators to ensure accurate infinity focus.

The results of these inspections determine each product’s final condition rating, providing a clear and reliable overview of its condition before purchase.
